This is, without exaggeration, one of the most amazing things I have ever seen. I hope, hope, hope it's real and not doctored in any way.
I knew elephants could paint, and I even bought a canvas once at a silent auction. That one was lovingly referred to as "the boob picture" because that accurately describes how it looks. I've never displayed it at home, as it is an odd size page so it's hard to frame.
As my husband remarked when I showed him this movie, how can anyone look at this and believe these creatures aren't sentient?
I found this on Cute Overload. The site in the corner of this video is a new international craft site. Yes, it does have more elephant paintings.

According to National Geographic it is legit:

Robin, this is amazing. It really says a lot abut who we are in relation to all of the other living things on this planet.
I found you through Jennifer, and will thank her roundly for this pleasure.
Thanks for the link, Joan. From the research I've done in the past two days, it sounds like the elephant is trained to paint this way, but he still does far better than I do. I also read from another source that elephants recognize themselves in mirrors, so I like to think that they recognize the paint strokes as forming themselves.
Runt, welcome! I believe I've also seen you around Brave Sir Robin's place.
(I found my elephant painting and I'll post it as soon as the paper flattens out a bit.)
That is flat out awesome.
Wowzers.
